About
Priyanka Singh, RDN, LDN
Creator & Founder
Imagine a world where dietitians stood a little taller, spoke a little louder, and had a pep in their step.
Ultimately, that is the reason why I do what I do.
Nice to Meet You!
Hey future dietitian! I’m Priyanka.
I’m a proud Registered Dietitian, and the creator and founder of Nutrition Genius ®.
I teach Future RD’s like yourself how to study and pass the RD Exam using the power of brain science without the chaos and excess clutter other RD Exam programs will give you.
Like you, I’ve long had to choose between study materials that either have a lackluster sequence that fails to grip your memory or is often overloaded with information that slows down your progress, siphons your time and even sucks your brilliance.
In fact, those are some of the reasons why I created Nutrition Genius®, and what’s funny is that it was all a big, happy accident.
My Mission.
Is to inspire future (and current) dietitians to become stronger, more brilliant RDs that spark meaningful change in their patients and clients lives.
Studying for the RD Exam is like making a classic French omelet.
Omelet creation can be both simple and difficult at the same time. Likewise, preparing for the RD Exam can be excruciating and nauseating, or surprisingly simple.
Even though you have the ingredients stocked in your study guide — as in, the nutrition concepts, theories and ideas, but might be missing the technique and guidance to study for the RD exam. Or, to make the “perfect omelete”.
Well, I’m here to guide you how to make that perfect omelet. I’m here to help you pass the RD Exam using the power of brain science without the soul-crushing process.
If your brain is spinning with the following questions:
- How am I going to accomplish this?
- What’s the right way to do this?
- Where do I start?
- What do I do?
- What do I not do?
Then you’re in the right place.
My Story.
I once failed the DTR exam and became impassioned with passing on my second try to secure a better job and feel a sense of movement in my life, particularly after I experienced a series of failures in dietetics (delayed college graduation, no dietetic internship).
Charged with a smidge of desperation and a mission to pass (on my second attempt), I marched home and made a spontaneous decision to remodel my study guide. I ripped the pages out of the binding, deconstructed the topics and reordered them for a better understanding, and infused learning & memory techniques to specific content areas.
Seven weeks later, I had transformed this 165-page study guide into a lean, mean, memory-pumping encyclopedia, stocked with science-based strategies, techniques as well as unique formulas and drawings (scribbled in by me) to master different nutrition topics and sections of the DTR exam. This remodeled study guide became my personal accomplice.
I took the exam again and to my surprise, my score increased dramatically, in fact by several points. Questions began spinning in my mind. How did I do it? This set off an intellectual journey to peel back the onion layers of my process and this is how Nutrition Genius ™ was born in February 2013.
At first, it wasn’t all wine and roses. After my success passing the DTR exam, I explored brain science for several months, inherited a bursting amount of knowledge, and to date I have read well over 100+ scholarly articles, textbooks and medical journals to unveil vital information on how our brains work and how to learn better.
Because a lot of emotional embarrassment and successful feelings of victory revolve around passing an exam, I knew that that this was a powerful, valuable idea that needed to exist. What I didn’t realize (at first) was that it would an incredibly long time to build and a tremendous amount of grit & commitment on my behalf.
Over the next several years, I used this 165-Page “encyclopedia” as a linchpin to accomplish these milestones:
- Milestone #1: Pass the RD Exam on my first try in less than 6 weeks (~42 days) using the principles outlined in the guide to finish studying in < 3 hours a day. (I left the exam room early because I finished my questions in under an hour!)
- Milestone #2: Create and Launch and Online Course. Based on my research, I developed nine creative science-based techniques to work through through dense and tough sections of the RD exam, which I introduced to students in my first online program, “The RD Exam Playbook“. I built a system to study nutrition through a brain friendly and effective way.
- Victory #4: Help People Pass (and Feel Smart). I’m proud to say that I’ve helped several future dietitians do more than just change their RD Exam strategy. I’ve helped them change their perceptions, battle their learning obstacles, and navigate their study materials using the power of learning & memory science to study smarter and pass the RD exam faster. I’ve only scratched the surface of how many people I want to help.
Some Praise About Me (Or Things I’ve Created).
I purchased other study guides but honestly it is all the same information thrown at you with no direction. I love how you broke things down and gave that little boost of confidence everyday. I think the focused learning really helped me. I feel so relieved! I just wanted to say thank you for your passion and commitment to helping others!”
It is with great pleasure that I let you know that I passed my RD exam on Monday with a 28. As you know, the first time I sat for the exam I made a 24, looking back I really think I truly mastered the content but I got confused on what the question was really answering on the exam. Your video helped me so well. I literally broke down the question, sentence by sentence in order to understand what it was truly asking. Thank you for everything!
Priyanka is genuine, sincere, and a great voice to listen to.:)
Oh. My. Gosh!!! I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED—Absolutely loved—this video!!! It was awesome watching the carbohydrate (in this case, bread) travel down from the mouth etc. on the screen. I don’t know how you physically make this happen when making the video, but it was awesome! Excellent work, girl! Thank you for doing this to facilitate better learning; much appreciated!
My Chief Aim: Grab Your Neurons (and your spirit).
I like accelerated, fast results. I’m passionate about stitching stories together and breaking down the most complicated subjects into bite-size, digestible chunks to deliver “a-ha” moments (as Oprah calls them!)
I do this by calling on research from the science of education along with my personal experiences as a clinical dietitian to teach RD Exam content in a simple, attractive and effective way. In my programs, I focus on creating story-like sequences that work and are easy to follow and understand.
