From the Instructor —

If I could travel back in time and accelerate my study sessions, this is the skill I would want to know.

After my internship, I was stuck in a 7-month dry spell, actively avoiding any reason to sit down and study for the RD Exam.  My analysis paralysis coupled with my fear of failure slowed down my progress.

Some days, I battled with second-guessing syndrome, while other days random numbers in the mathematical questions tripped me up, and sometimes the jargon of some questions left me puzzled. The main problem? I picked what I thought was the right answer, only to discover I was wrong.

One day, I threw my hands in the air and looked for a faster path. I came up with a shortcut, an unusual hack, to expedite my study sessions.

Suddenly, it hit me: I can apply this knowledge to tackle the RD Exam content them with a different approach. From that point forward, my entire strategy shifted.

However, it wasn’t all wine and roses. For weeks, I borrowed insights from the article and applied them to my study sessions.

Within time, I figured out the nuances. I zoomed through the test bank faster, and I started to feel more sure-footed and I answered questions with a much higher accuracy. Eventually, with tremendous grit, massive action, consistent work, and relentless practice, I had enough breakthroughs to bulldoze my way through the test questions like a ballerina on roller skates. (At least, that’s what it felt like.)

Six weeks later I passed the RD Exam and walked out of the exam room 50 minutes early.

Here’s what I learned: there are no tripwires and there are no clues. Everything you need to know to answer a test question successfully is within the container of the question.

After this breakthrough,  was able to breakdown information, to arrive at the right answer, but also study other topics just by examining a test question.

I believe that once you learn this test taking skill, you can master how to answer a test question without doubting your answers. Answering test questions is a fundamental skill and once you nail the skill — you’re on your way to becoming a sophistiated test taker. Within time, you’ll realize that the RD exam isn’t as daunting as it first seems.

This mini course is the culmination of everything I learned over the years I’ve explored learning & memory science and the actions steps I applied as I prepared for the RD Exam.

I trust that once you learn this knowledge, you will never look at at test question with an anxious perspective ever again. More importantly, you’ll come to the realization that you are smart, capable, and you can handle this.

Feedback on Our Approach to Breaking Down Test Questions

In some shape or form, I always cover the importance of test questions in my programs, even if it isn’t the center stage topic. Take a look at what some students have said in response to my lessons on tackling test questions.

I’m not as intimated by my study guide as before.

I’m so excited to go into the exam not feeling as much test anxiety and being able to answer the questions without has much second guessing and hesitation.

The MCQ approach really helped me stay focused and not jump around all around and forgetting what i just learned. Making connections throughout my MC questions and different topics helped me link many questions, rather than study them individually . Grouping them really helped me and also finding a correlation between them.

Being able to understand what the question is asking is imperative to our test. No other programs tell us how to understand a question which seems ridiculous since that’s a huge make or break. I sometimes would be confused by questions or would let the answers change my thought process. (During the exam on Saturday I used my whiteboard to cover all the answers and asked myself what the question was looking for so I could start to identify what they were looking for). The most impressive point for me was how you eliminated the wrong answers and even if you didn’t know what CHI meant you could still select it. Now, I’m going to do practice questions every day.

It is with great pleasure that I let you know that I passed my RD exam on Monday with a 28. As you know, the first time I sat for the exam I made a 24, looking back I really think I truly mastered the content but I got confused on what the question was really answering on the exam. Your video helped me so well. I literally broke down the question, sentence by sentence in order to understand what it was truly asking.

The most impressive point of this video lesson I learned was to dissect the question that is being asked. Dissecting the question helped me to determine what part of the question that is really important. I answered my questions during my examination, the second time, very confidently, because I knew what the question was truly asking. Thank you for everything!
